Sekinchan - 22/6/2014

1 day Family Trip to Sekinchan :)

It was a Sunday. My family and I decided to head to Sekinchan for a short trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life as well as for the fresh SEAFOOD! ( we heard from many people that Sekinchan has recently become a major tourist attraction). The small Teochew Chinese dominated village is located at the western coast of Selangor. The journey from KL took us approximately one and a half hours. Sekinchan is just further up north of Kuala Selangor.

Journey

We left KL at 10.30am and arrived there at 12 noon. The journey was rather smooth. We used Guthrie Corridor Expressway - LATAR Expressway - Kuala Selangor - exit at Ijok - Kuala Selangor - Sekinchan.

Lunch

If you are wondering which restaurant is the best in Sekinchan for lunch, there is no doubt that I'll proudly say its the one we tried. Our GPS did not stop us exactly at the restaurant and so I asked the locals for the restaurant by the name of  'Restaurant Bagan Sekinchan' . To my surprise, they told me that no such name existed. However, they recommended me to try out a Restaurant by the name of "Ah Jiao" situated behind a Chinese temple ( its the same restaurant actually, I guess its the nickname of that restaurant which only the locals know LOL). Its very easy to find. They will be many cars parked outside the restaurant.

Be prepared to wait for at least an hour. But its definitely worth the wait. There are tour groups that stop by for lunch here too. The seafood is FRESH and the price is REASONABLE :)

Must try! The Lala is cooked with wine. Really good!

Must try! Their speciality spicy fish. Almost every table orders this dish.
Must try! Thumbs up for the Chilli small prawns! Cant get in KL.
Buttered salted egg mantis prawn. Generous amount of buttered salted egg :)

Ok ok laa. hahahaha!

'Kam Heong' style crab. Really fresh and tasty!

 Seafood marketing

Right after lunch, we headed to a fish shop located beside Restaurant Ten Tian Lai which is at the same stretch of road as our lunch restaurant. Its very easy to find. Mum bought lots of fishes. They are really fresh and reasonable. I think this is the best place to buy seafood there :)

Paddy Field

Just ask the locals there for directions. Just beside the paddy field is a rice processing factory which is a must to visit. Sadly, we came at the wrong season. Its was the time where farmers burn their plot of land to prepare for the next batch of planting. It would be better if we came 2 weeks earlier where the rice fields would be golden yellowish. However, as the land were burnt in plots, certain plots were still golden yellowish :)

We drove through the field by the tractor's road. So its quite bumpy and dusty. In this way, we get to be in the middle of the field and have a better view. If you don't want to drive through that road, just use the usual tar road towards the factory.

We bought some rice too :) Look at the queue!

Passion fruit ice cream (RM2). Located inside building.

'Sali' or ambra juice (RM2.50). Located at the side of building.

Seashell collecting at Sekin Hotel & Resort

For those who like to collect seashells, this is definitely the place to go to. The resort is before Pantai Redang which is another 5-10 minutes drive from here. There's a 7 storey watch tower which cost RM1 to go up. I wouldn't say that the view was fantastic, it was just ok ok laa. Do bear in mind that you cant swim at the beach here as there are many rocks. By the way, the seashells here are much better than those at Pantai Redang :) There's also a fish pond whereby kids can feed those hungry fishes.

The rocky beach. You can find crabs there too!

Seashells all over the beach. Its literally the sand of the beach LOL

 Fishing village

Its located throughout the whole stretch of road from the resort to Pantai Redang. Right opposite the entrance of the resort, there is a viewing area. Furthermore, the fishing village can also be seen at Pantai Redang.

Pantai Redang

The best time to be here is at sunset at 7pm. We were there around 6pm till sunset. There are some stalls selling food and a few mini huts build on trees. You cant swim here as the beach is quite muddy.

 Dinner

As it was late and we did not want to waste our time waiting for seafood, we headed to town for a simple meal. The chicken rice was really nice! Thumbs up! You can taste the original Hainan taste. Better than many of the chicken rice in KL. The restaurant is located opposite the side of Harbour View Hotel. Its name is Restaurant Riri Fatt. If were not rushing, we would eat seafood at Restaurant Wan Lau which is the same road as the earlier lunch restaurant.

Overall, the trip was fun! I would definitely go back again for the SEAFOOD :) That's all for now! By the way, this is my first time blogging hahahha!
